Amazon, Walmart and Wegmans are among more than 20 companies in Northern Virginia that will be seeking candidates for thousands of open positions at the October 8 Hiring and Reskilling Virtual Career Fair.

The event is the third in a series of virtual career fairs presented by the Fairfax County Economic Development Authority, and open to anyone looking for job and/or reskilling opportunities.

Fredericksburg leaders are looking at reducing the amount of taxes some businesses pay in hopes to bring more creativity to the city.

They’re looking at expanding its Arts and Culture District, which currently stretches between Lewis and Fredericks streets, and up to Lafayette Boulevard and Willis Street in downtown.

The only problem? “We have virtually no shots of people in masks,” states an email sent to business owners from the city’s economic development department.


Obituaries

On Saturday, September 19, 2020, Linda Elizabeth Richards, passed away at the age of 75.

Linda was born on September 27, 1944, in Lee, Massachusetts, to Charles and Doris Clark. She received her teaching degree from Westfield State College in 1966 and taught elementary school in Prince William County before retiring in 2001. She raised a son, Jack, and daughter, Stacy.

On Sept. 11, an estimated 4,500 U.S. Flags were retired in a dignified manner.

These flags were collected as part of a Boy Scout program at the Prince William County Landfill and Balls Ford Compost Facility.
