Fredericksburg is considering joining a coalition of local governments banned together to strive for racial equity.
The city is considering joining Government Alliance on Race and Equity, a joint project between two California based racial equity groups called Race Forward:The Center for Racial Justice Innovation, and The Haas Institute for a Fair and Inclusive Society.

Police in Virginia are warning about the dangers of drunken driving this St. Patrick’s Day.
Police said March 17 is becoming one of the year’s most dangerous times to be on the road. According to the U.S. Department of Transportation’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), during the 2019 St. Patrick’s Day weekend alone (6 p.m. March 16 to 5:59 a.m. March 18), more than three out of five (63%) traffic crash-related fatalities involved a drunk driver. In fact, from 2015 to 2019, a total of 280 lives were lost in drunk-driving crashes during the St. Patrick’s Day period nationwide.

Police in Woodbridge were called to the scene of a home invasion.
Two men broke into a home at the Summerland Apartments, in the 1900 block of Gableridge Turn at 8:53 p.m. Thursday, March 11. The men kicked in the door to the apartment to gain entry.
Manassas fire and rescue crews were called to an early morning blaze on Byrd Drive.
At 7:46 a.m. today, crews from the city and neighboring Manassas Park and Prince William County, rescued one male standing outside a second-story window on an awning at 9229 Byrd Drive.
On Thursday, March 11 at 6:05 p.m., police in Prince William County were called to the scene of a motorcycle crash in the area of the Prince William Pkwy and Hynson Drive near Manassas.
The investigation revealed that the operator of a 2020 Kawasaki Ninja motorcycle was traveling east on the Prince William Pkwy, approaching Hynson Dr, when the operator lost control and ran off the left side of the roadway into the center median.
A woman who lost control of her vehicle outside the main gate of Quantico Marine Corps Base was killed in a car crash.
Police said the crash occurred at 10:20 a.m. in the area of Fuller Heights and Old Triangle roads.
