Andrea Bailey, a military wife and corporate business development professional, plans to run for the Board of Supervisors in the Potomac District. Maureen Caddigan (R-Potomac) currently holds the seat.

But before she can run against Caddigan, Bailey must first win the primary against Dumfries Councilman Derrick Wood. The Democratic primary will take place on June 13.


London Colvin – the 21-year-old Army Reservist and Norfolk State University student who was attacked by a Norfolk police dog last week – is recovering, but she has a long way to go. Colvin, who is a Woodbridge Senior High School graduate, has been recuperating in Woodbridge since the Jan. 25 attack.

“She’s still doing a lot of crying, but our hope is that it’s going to get better and better and better, so that she can get back to where she was before this event occurred,” said Jon Babineau, a lawyer at Riddick Babineau that is representing Colvin.

It is now legal to open a craft brewery in a shopping center in Prince William County.

In what seemed like a happy hour session, that last call of the night for the County Board of Supervisors was to amend zoning laws that once prevented small craft breweries, like Bad Wolf Brewing in Manassas, from opening in commercial or retail district.


Six people have been killed this year in Prince William County, the same number of people who were murdered last year in the county.

The early Sunday morning shooting death of 19-year-old Christopher Nathaniel Weaver was the sixth this year in Prince William. It came less than a week after the shooting death of 16-year-old Brenden Wilson who was shot and killed outside Woodbridge Senior High School.

To commemorate the sesquicentennial of the Civil War, Gov. Terry McAuliffe awarded state grants to several battlefields across Virginia for preservation and expansion.
