STAFFORD –– Stafford County will pass responsibilities for aquatics classes onto a Fredericksburg-based sports management group.

Eastern Sports Management will take over teaching aquatics classes at the Jeff Rouse Swim and Sport Center in Embrey Mill starting this summer. It’s the same firm that has overseen day-to-day operations for the Rouse Center since 2014.


MANASSAS — The City of Manassas is planning projects for the fiscal year 2020 that will add park space to a historic site, give residents a one-stop shop for city customer service, and honor a local hero and champion of education.

PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY — Residents should not toss glass into their recycling bins as trash haulers in Prince William County will no longer accept it for single-stream recycling.

County solid waste division chief Tom Smith told leaders it’s costing the county more than it used to recycle the product, as it must be shipped to processing facilities in Pennsylvania and North Carolina, as one doesn’t exist in Virginia.


The developers of a new Tru by Hilton Hotel will receive a $10,000 grant from the Manassas Economic Development Authority once the new hotel opens.

PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY — As Prince William County Public Schools experiences its smallest enrollment increase in recent history, plans for a fifteenth high school and two new middle schools have been nixed from the school division’s Capital Improvements Program.

The Capital Improvements Program (CIP) covers 2019 to 2028, and budgets projects to meet demands driven by enrollment growth and student population shifts.
