Improperly discarded smoking materials are to blame for a house fire in Stafford County.
Fire crews were called to a home in the 600 block of Melchers Drive in Falmouth at 1:52 a.m. Saturday, January 2. Some furniture on the front porch caught fire, but the blaze didn’t damage the home.

Delegate Lee Carter (D-50), the self-avowed Democratic socialist who has represented Manassas City and Bristow in the Virginia General Assembly since 2018, announced his run for governor on New Year’s Day.

A winning $1 million ticket for Virginia’s New Year’s Millionaire Raffle was sold at a 7-Eleven store at 13360 Minnieville Road in Woodbridge, near a DMV office on Caton Hill Road.
