STAFFORD COUNTY — Someone vandalized a construction site and left $1.2 million in damage.
The Stafford County Sheriff’s Office was called Tuesday, May 14 to a construction site on Potomac Creek Drive for a report of vandalism of heavy equipment.
MANASSAS — The annual fundraiser known as Manassas Hamfest returns on June 15 this year. This year’s Hamfest will be held at the Manassas Park Community Center from 6:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Although visitors occasionally arrive asking for recipes, Hamfest isn’t about cooking. It’s the annual fundraiser for the Ole Virginia Hams amateur radio club.

FREDERICKSBURG – A new fitness trail in Fredericksburg offers people the chance to get in shape for free.
FREDERICKSBURG — Its race weekend in Fredericksburg as more than 7,000 runners are set to take the course for the Marine Corps Historic Half Marathon.
Event day ceremonies begin on Sunday at 6:30 at a.m. The start line for the race is located adjacent to Wegmans in Central Park.

STAFFORD — On July 20, prepare to set sail at the 15th annual cardboard boat regatta at Aquia Landing Park.
On Saturday, July 20, teams of adults and children take to the Potomac River to race in boats made completely of cardboard.
Earlier this year, I shared with our community my key budget priorities for the upcoming 2019-20 school year, and I am pleased to announce that those priorities were all fully funded. This is only possible due to the strong collaboration with our teachers, parents, and staff in developing the budget.
I also want to thank our School Board and the Board of County Supervisors for their unanimous support, and our local state representatives who helped advocate for, and pass, an increase in state funding for teacher pay. Through this collaboration, we are able to provide an average 4.8 percent increase for our teachers and employees, with no increase in employee health care costs.
STAFFORD — A suspect behind a string of residential burglaries in the Crescent Pointe subdivision has been arrested by units with the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office.
On May 7, 2019, the Sheriff’s Office received two separate reports of home burglaries on Pilot Knob Loop. In the first incident, a resident reported that an unknown suspect had broken into her home and stolen Chinese food from the refrigerator.
