MANASSAS — On May 15, the Animal Control Section of the Manassas City Police Department received a complaint for possible animal care issues at Capital City Pups.

Animal Control Officers investigated the business. The investigation revealed numerous puppies were being held in inadequate conditions which violated the care of companion animal code of Virginia.


STAFFORD — It’s difficult to miss a large number of visitors spaces at the top of the parking lot at the Stafford County Government Center.

When the lot was repaved, former county public works chief Christopher Rapp wanted visitors who needed to conduct business at their government center to have plenty of places to park and easily access the building.


STAFFORD — The Abel Lake Boat Ramp reopened on Thursday, May 30 after safety and road improvements were made to the property.

The ramp was reopened following the death of Helen Wang, a Colonial Forge High School student who was hit and killed after a picnic with her friends on her 17th birthday on May 16. She was in her car leaving the Abel Lake Boat Ramp, where she met her friends for an afternoon at the reservoir.


STAFFORD COUNTY — A sharp curve on Popular Hill Road, near where a 16-year-old high school student was involved in a crash and later died, is being straightened.

Mountain View High School Student Kyle Morgan, 16, was killed in March 2018 when the Hyundai Accent he was riding in collided head-on with a large SUV. He suffered head trauma and injuries to his lower body.


MANASSAS — Glen-Gery, a leading North American brick and stone manufacturer, has announced that its brick manufacturing plant in Manassas will retire from operation on June 14.

The Glen-Gery Masonry Supply Center (MSC) currently located on the site of the plant will continue to operate at the existing location until a new, more convenient location is selected.
