STAFFORD — Celebrate America’s 243rd birthday with food, fun, and fireworks at the “July 4th Spectacular” at John Lee Pratt Memorial Park.
Stafford hosts the annual event which is part of Fredericksburg’s July 4th Heritage Festival.

MANASSAS —Manassas Vice Mayor Ken Elston will step down at the end of the month.
Elston accepted the positions of Associate Dean of Arts and Sciences and Director of Performing Arts at High Point University in High Point, North Carolina.
STAFFORD COUNTY — Fire crews raced to the 1300 block of Westview Drive to find a house on fire.
Crews were called at 4:59 a.m. Sunday to a single-story home in the Brookfield section of Stafford County, near Town and Country Drive.
MANASSAS — With Vice Mayor Ken Elston resigning, the position is open for a resident of Manassas to fill before a special election can be held in November.
In May, Elston notified the public of his official resignation from City Council effective at the end of July 2019.
