Press release | Stafford County Public Schools (SCPS) are participating in African American History Month, recognized annually in February. North Stafford High School is hosting the SCPS signature celebration event, Black History is Everyone’s History, on Saturday, February 29, 2020.
The event, open to the public, aims to foster conversation and connection between local African American business owners, Greek organizations, and Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) representatives and SCPS families.

Things are changing in Fredericksburg as new development is popping up across the city.
Now, as city leaders envision what the city will look like in the future, they’ve updated the city’s building standards to ensure that owners of single-family homes in some of the city’s older neighborhoods like College Heights, Normandy Village near Fall Hill Avenue, and Mayfield, on the city’s south side, may renovate to keep up with the times.
Stafford sheriff’s office press release | Two suspects were arrested on Thursday by detectives with the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit following a joint investigation with the Fauquier County Sheriff’s Office into a report that a juvenile was sexually assaulted by two suspects in both counties.
On January 20, 2020, a 14-year-old juvenile filed a report with the Fauquier County Sheriff’s Office that she had been sexually assaulted earlier that day. The juvenile advised that she had met two male subjects at the Chick-fil-A located at 25 Dunn Drive in Stafford. They exchanged Snapchat information and the juvenile provided the subjects with her home address in Fauquier County.

An earthquake was felt this morning southwest of Fredericksburg.
The 2.7 magnitude quake was centered about three miles south of Louisa, about the same area where the 2011 east coast earthquake was centered.

Manassas Park is ready to take the next steps to leave the Prince William Public Library System and open its own library.
To do so, city leaders want to hold a public hearing at 7 p.m. Tuesday, February 18 on a plan to hire California-based firm Library Systems & Services to operate a new library that would be located at 9701 Manassas Drive. That’s the site of the old General’s Ridge Golf Course that was shuttered last year.

The Rappahannock River near Interstate 95 is open to boaters once again — at least for now.
The river channel that passes underneath the Rappahannock Falls Bridge that carries I-95 traffic over the waterway has is now open for recreational traffic. Prior today, boaters had to use a portage that was put into place in December 2019 to get to the water.
