There will be one less traffic light in Fredericksburg.

The traffic signal at the intersection of George and Prince Edward Streets, near Hurkamp Park in Downtown Fredericksburg, stopped working properly earlier this year, city officials tell us.


Tapping his foot once, twice, and third time against the rough grey carpet in the School Board chambers, Stafford County Schools superintendent Scott Kizner looked back at the small crowd that faced the School Board meeting Tuesday night. 

Immediately after his glance back, Kizner calmly addressed the School Board on his staff’s response to the ongoing fears of the spread of the Coronavirus.


Should home school students in Stafford County be allowed to use the same public facilities as those in public school?

That’s what county leaders are trying to decide, and they’ve tasked the county’s parks and recreation department to come up with a plan that would provide guidelines for such a program.


Update | We’ve now learned George Mason University and Germanna Community College will move all classes online.

To limit exposure on our campus, [George] Mason is extending spring break by an additional week through March 20. This will allow students and faculty to prepare for virtual alternative instruction and reduce close contact on campus.
