The Stafford County Board of Supervisors wants to give residents and business owners some breathing room when it comes to their tax bills, where it can.

The county has looked into four different areas of tax relief, possibly delaying the collection of some taxes during the coronavirus outbreak. The Board of Supervisors could take action for some of these taxes,  while others might be a bit more complicated due to rules and regulations.


The Marine Corps Marathon Organization (MCMO) announced that they are cancelling their Historic Half Weekend events scheduled for May in Fredericksburg following the statewide Stay at Home order issued by Virginia Governor Ralph Northam, but they are providing other ways for runners to participate while socially distancing.

According to a press release from the Marine Corps Marathon Organization (MCMO), the MCMO has announced that the 2020 Marine Corps Historic Half Weekend events, scheduled for Friday, May 15 through Sunday, May 17 have been cancelled to support the wellbeing of the running community, residents, Marines and partners.


Tang’s Alterations in Manassas continues to make facemasks for first responders on the frontlines fighting the coronavirus outbreak.

Owners Xiao-Yin and Kenny Loveless told Potomac Local News they’ve made about 500 masks since they began making them March 25. Sheriff’s deputies were called to a Sunoco gas station Someone after someone began smashing the merchandise.

Authorities were called at 1:46 p.m. Monday, March 30, 2020, to 488 Garrisonville Road in North Stafford. The owner of the gas station told them that after the man ransacked the place, he sped away in an older model white sedan, according to Stafford sheriff’s spokeswoman Amanda Vicinanzo.

Today, Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam issued a stay-at-home order, telling state residents to only travel if it’s necessary — to places like grocery stores, or to seek medical attention. Violating the order, he said, could be punishable by up to a year in jail and/or a $2,500 fine.

Yesterday, President Donald Trump announced his social distancing orders — which also require U.S. citizens to stay at home, work from home, and travel only when necessary, would be extended through April. Adhering to these rules could reduce the expected number of coronavirus deaths in the U.S., which was forecasted to be as many as 200,000, according to Dr. Anthony S. Fauci, Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases.
