City Manager Timothy Baroody is excepted to announce at a city council meeting on Tuesday that, since the economic shutdown, the city could lose as much as $8 million in revenue.

Illegal drugs made their way inside the Rappahannock Regional Jail in Stafford County, and now multiple inmates face charges.
A joint investigation by the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office Special Investigations Unit (SIU) and the Rappahannock Regional Jail’s Gang Unit has been investigating numerous individuals who were involved in attempting to have illegal drugs smuggled into the jail through the mail.
Road crews will be out working on Route 1 in Stafford County for the next three weeks.
Drivers will see mobile, daytime lane closures between Truslow, and American Legion/Eskimo Hill roads as crews will work to clean roadside shoulders and ditches to improve drainage. They’ll also be laying down a fresh layer of stone along the shoulder of the road, the Virginia Department of Transportation said.
A man who authorities said walked into a Bank of America and tried to passoff a stolen check is now behind bars.
It happened at 3:51 p.m. at 1525 Stafford Marketplace, when Stafford County Sheriff’s deputies were called t to the bank where employees said a man tried to cash a check that had been reported stolen, and had been altered from $1,500 to $11,000, sheriff’s department spokeswoman Amanda Vicinanzo said.

The Manassas City Council voted unanimously Wednesday night to allow remote meetings for the next six months during the coronavirus outbreak, as well as to allow individual council members to remotely participate while sick, disabled, or on vacation.
During the meeting, Manassas council members sat one chair apart while councilwoman Pamela Sebesky and Councilwoman Michelle Davis-Younger wore masks.
The Stafford County Sheriff’s Department is about to get a tech upgrade.
The county’s Board of Supervisors on Tuesday unanimously approved the purchase of new in-car cameras for the department’s cruisers. A total of $150,000 will come from the Sheriff’s Office Operating Budget to replace 19 cameras, as well as provide technical support for the new equipment.
