To establish the $60,000 pool of funds, the City applied for and received a $20,000 grant from the Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development. Per the City’s proposal, that amount was matched by two local entities – Historic Manassas Inc. (HMI) and the Economic Development Authority (EDA) – with the entire amount to be awarded to Historic Downtown restaurants, retailers, and personal service providers for rent relief.

The Stafford County Board of Supervisors on during its Tuesday, April 21 meeting had to make a decision on a tax rate in order to ensure the Real Estate tax bills would go out 30 days before the deadline on June 5.

Virginia Transportation officials awarded a construction contract to a Pennsylvania firm that will reconstruct the Chatham Bridge, which carries vehicles on Route 3 over the Rappahannock River.
