The coronavirus hasn’t stopped the construction of two new bridges across the Rappahannock River.
Soon, drivers on Interstate 95 near Fredericksburg will have new travel options, and with any luck, a smoother commute once officials lift the lockdown spurred by the coronavirus pandemic.

To establish the $60,000 pool of funds, the City applied for and received a $20,000 grant from the Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development. Per the City’s proposal, that amount was matched by two local entities – Historic Manassas Inc. (HMI) and the Economic Development Authority (EDA) – with the entire amount to be awarded to Historic Downtown restaurants, retailers, and personal service providers for rent relief.

The Stafford County Board of Supervisors on during its Tuesday, April 21 meeting had to make a decision on a tax rate in order to ensure the Real Estate tax bills would go out 30 days before the deadline on June 5.
The Stafford County Board of Supervisors voted 6-1 to deny a $665,000, 5-year lease for a new voter registrar space.
Aquia District Supervisor Cindy Shelton was the opposing vote.
Manassas Park is moving forward with plans for its own library and voted Tuesday to approve the Library Strategic Plan and Policies.
City Manager Laszlo Palko addressed the council members briefly before they had a brief discussion and a final vote.
A new bridge will soon link Fredericksburg to Stafford County.
Virginia Transportation officials awarded a construction contract to a Pennsylvania firm that will reconstruct the Chatham Bridge, which carries vehicles on Route 3 over the Rappahannock River. The bridge provides direct entry to Downtown Fredericksburg, as well as links the city to nearby Chatham Manor, a historic estate, and Ferry Farm, the boyhood home of George Washington.
