A recent round of heavy rain on Thursday could lead to flooding on area rivers. And that has state officials concerns for the safety of boaters, as rushing rivers could lead to fatal boating accidents.
In Richmond, The Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries (DGIF) says recreational boaters should use extreme caution this upcoming weekend as the National Weather Service has issued Flood Warnings in several locations throughout Virginia and water temperatures remain dangerously cold.

Starting today, Gov. Ralph Northam is relaxing what were his strict orders that prevented Virginians to have nonessential surgery during the spread of the coronavirus.
“Today, I’m announcing that elective surgery and dental procedures can resume when the public order expires at midnight on [May 1] with guidelines in place to ensure safety for healthcare workers and patients and to maintain an adequate supply of PPE,” Northam said at a press conference on Wednesday, April 29.
A candidate for Manassas City Council teamed up with Miss Virginia to bring hot meals to a city trailer park.
Miss Virginia United States 2020 Katelyn Page joined Helen Zurita, a community activist turned city council candidate, at the East End Mobile Home Park on Route 28 where they donated 150 hot meals to residents.
The Stafford County Board of Supervisors had a budget work session on April 28 to hammer down a close-to-final draft of the Fiscal Year 2021 budget.
Cuts are key in the budget with the equalized .97-cent tax Real Estate rate that the Board of Supervisors approved last week. It’s an equalized rate that, essentially, keeps tax bills flat, so residents won’t pay more in Real Estate taxes than they did in 2020.
As she stood on the front porch of her Fredericksburg home, Mayor Mary Kathrine Greenlaw delivered some grim news earlier this month in a video posted to the city’s YouTube page as the city battles the financial strain of the coronavirus pandemic.
Greenlaw announced that the city would be furloughing roughly 41 city employees effective May 2. Twenty-eight of whom are currently listed as part-time employees, while 13 full-time employees will, unfortunately, be furloughed as well.
A man defrauded a Tropical Smoothie Cafe, according to authorities.
The man called the restaurant at 15 South Gateway Drive in Stafford County on April, 27, at 5:18 p.m. An employee answered the phone and a caller stated he was from the company’s corporate office.
At least four people are now suspected in a series of armed robberies at 7-Eleven stores near Manassas and in Woodbridge.
Most recently, two men were arrested on April 17, 2020, and were both charged in connection to the robberies while they were already in a Fairfax County jail.
