A total of 39 CVS pharmacies are now serving as coronavirus testing sites in Virginia, and here’s where they are near you.

Fredericksburg, Fairfax, Dumfries, Manassas, Stafford County, and Alexandria all have CVS stores ready for coronavirus testing. According to CVS Pharmacy’s “Covid-19: Expanded Testing Locations” page, here’s where they are nearby.


A Fredericksburg-area DMV office will reopen on Monday, June 1 by appointment and offer limited services.

The DMV location in Southpoint Shoppes in Spotsylvania County will be one of a handful of locations that will be the first to reopen since the beginning of the quarantine due to the coronavirus pandemic.


A popular Chick-fil-A location in Fredericksburg has closed down, and not just because it’s Sunday.

It has been confirmed, by both Chick-fil-A and numerous Facebook posts from customers, that at least one staff member at the restaurant located at 1698 Carl D. Silver Parkway in Central Park has been diagnosed with the new coronavirus. The restaurant has reportedly closed.


On May 26, the Fredericksburg City Council held a public hearing to discuss proposed revisions to their budget for the fiscal year 2021. 

The revised budget total is down 7.5% from the March 10 recommended budget, coming in at $95.7 million. This is also a 5.9% decrease compared to the 2020 fiscal year. 


The Stafford County School Board has unanimously approved a plan to provide compensation to secondary, or middle school teachers who teach over 150 students or 25 class periods a week. 

This compensation was amended into the Virginia Administrative Code last fiscal year, stating that if a secondary and/or middle school ‘classroom teacher teaches more than 150 students or 25 class periods per week, an appropriate contractual arrangement and compensation shall be provided.’


The City of Manassas will need to vote on the tax rate – again.

Mayor Hal Parrish II  on May 18 was asked to reconsider the tax vote after Councilwoman Theresa Coates Ellis voted yes on the second reading of the tax rate, despite the fact she voted no on May 11.


Manassas City Councilman Ian Lovejoy will lead a crowd barhopping through Downtown Manassas at midnight.

He’s hosting the event in honor of the first phase of reopenings of Northern Virginia beginning at midnight tonight, as restaurants in the city will be allowed to reopen with outdoor seating, at 50% capacity for the first time since being largely shuttered at the onset of the coronavirus pandemic in March.
