Those who support law enforcement marched from Hurkamp Park in Downtown Fredericksburg to the city’s police headquarters.
More than 1,000 people lined the streets Sunday, many holding signs and U.S. flags, shouting “back the blue.” The marchers were given a motorcycle escort by over 100 bikers who rode along with the marchers on their way across town.

More than 400 people came to Nelson Park to show their support for area law enforcement.
The park is about four miles from the scene of a riot that took place on May 30, following the death of Minneapolis resident George Floyd, who died at the hands of a former police officer during an arrest attempt.
A woman called 911 after coming across a group of protestors in Downtown Fredericksburg blocking the intersection of Caroline and Hanover street.

The Stafford County Sheriff’s Office warns public of a scam after man gathers money to help, what he believed to be, his granddaughter in trouble and gives money to a courier.
A report on this scam occurred on Thursday, June 25, at 2:23 p.m., when a deputy was called to a home in Grafton Village for a complaint of fraud, according to a press release from Stafford County Sheriff’s Office. Upon arrival, Layug was told that the resident had received a phone call from a woman claiming to be his granddaughter, according to police.

Students in Stafford County are getting an extra week of summer vacation as the start of the school year has been pushed back for additional teacher training.
At their June 23 meeting, the Stafford County School Board approved an updated school calendar that both delays the start of the school year by one week and adds two additional days onto the academic year. These changes have caused the school year to now begin on Aug. 17 and end on May 28.
School may be out of session, but Stafford County teachers have been given new rules to follow.
During their June 23 school board meeting, the Stafford County School Board unanimously approved revisions to the school division’s Standard of Professional Conduct for All Employees, which ‘sets forth expectations for employee behavior both in and outside the workplace, as well as with students in-person and remote,’ according to school board documentation.
