Tucked Away Brewing Company will host Severing All Ties, a benefit to support Mental Health America (MHA), a charity organization based in Virginia.

The event will feature a live heavy metal concert at the Manassas brewery — the first of its kind since the city and state located down due to the coronavirus pandemic.


A Secret Service member and several other citizens noticed a 21-year-old man nearly drowning at Falmouth Beach and was able to revive him before emergency personnel arrived.

The event happened on Tuesday, July 21, at 5:41 p.m. when officers along with Fire and Rescue arrived at Falmouth Beach on an emergency report person in distress in the river. Stafford County Sheriff’s Office stated in a press release that when they arrived, the 21- year old was revived by beachgoers.


Following in Prince William County’s and Manassas City’s footsteps, Fredericksburg City Public Schools (FCPS) will be completely virtual in the fall.

During its June 23 meeting, the Fredericksburg City School Board unanimously approved a plan to begin the school year with 100% virtual instruction for at least the first nine weeks of the year, beginning August 17 and ending October 16. All students will be participating in this plan, even those who are English-language learners and participate in alternative education programs.


The Stafford Regional Airport plans to begin construction on a 1,000-foot extension to its already existing 5,000-foot by 100-foot paved runway in early or mid-September.

This project has been in the works since 2007, and the Stafford Regional Airport Authority (SRAA) opened bids for a contract on June 9. The winning bidder was Fredericksburg based Henderson Construction Company, which made a bid of just over $3.4 million for the project.


Stafford County Public Schools (SCPS) students may no longer begin their year with a mix of virtual and in-person learning.

During its June 21 meeting, the county’s school board reviewed and postponed its vote on an amended return to learning plan, presented by Superintendent Dr. Scott Kizner, in which most students would spend the majority of fall participating in virtual learning.

The University of Mary Washington (UMW) will be joining Stafford’s public safety radio communications system in an agreement that was approved by the Stafford Board of Supervisors at a recent meeting.

The system is used by first responders in the area to communicate with local authorities and security as events happen in real-time. This agreement would give greater communication ability between the police and UMW which has campuses in both Downtown Fredericksburg and off of Route 17 in Stafford.
