Stafford County Sheriff’s Office: “DRUGS, Stafford High School, 63 Stafford Indians Lane, [June 15, 2023], 11:35 a.m. Deputy C.D. Sullivan responded to summer school for a report of drug activity. School staff advised they observed a student in possession of a vape. The vape was discovered to contain THC. The vape was seized, and a warrant for possession of THC on school grounds was obtained.”

“LARCENY, St Williams Way, [June 15, 2023], 2:22 p.m. Deputy A.J. Layug responded to a larceny. The victim advised while in the area, six male suspects stole his backpack before fleeing on their bikes. The victim chased the suspects on foot until he lost visual. The stolen backpack was recovered with only cash stolen from it. The suspects were described as four white males, two black males, all wearing dark clothes and appeared to be approximately 15 years old.”


5:22 p.m. — National Weather Service: “A Severe Thunderstorm Watch has been expanded to the north to include most of the DC metro and into portions of central & northern VA. This is until 9 PM this evening. The main threat will be quarter-sized hail, with some damaging wind gusts also possible.”

2:31 p.m. — National Weather Service: “Severe Thunderstorm Watch has been issued until 9PM that includes St. Mary’s County MD, Spotsylvania County, King George County, the City of Fredericksburg in VA, and adjacent waters. This is for the potential for damaging wind gusts and/or large hail.”


Press release, Charles B. Roberts, Attorney at Law: “Brandon Nutter, 28, was trapped in the rear access area of a compactor at his Spotsylvania County job and killed on July 7, 2022. His family is devastated not only by his death but by the horrific way he senselessly died.”

“Immediately after his death, the Virginia Occupational Safety and Health Department (VOSH) and the Spotsylvania County Sheriff’s Office began investigating. In their Reports, both concluded that the failure of County employees to comply with federal, state, and County safety and training measures was the cause of his death. When the Sheriff’s Detective asked the County Safety Officer for a copy of the safety and training documents for employees, she was unable to supply any.”


Tara Durant is seeking the Virginia Senate seat for District 27, which includes southern Stafford County, Spotsylvania County, and Fredericksburg.

Durant, 50, is a one-term House of Delegates member who won her 2021 election and was part of a red wave of Republican candidates who won a slim majority in the House of Delegates, as well as Glenn Youngkin, Virginia’s first Republican Governor since Bob McDonnell won in 2009.

National Weather Service Baltimore-Washington: “Severe thunderstorms are possible today, especially this afternoon and evening. ”

“Today: Isolated showers before 11 am, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm between 11 am and 5 pm, then scattered showers and thunderstorms after 5 pm. Some of the storms could produce small hail and gusty winds. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 84. Light and variable wind is becoming northwest at 6 to 11 mph in the afternoon. The chance of precipitation is 70%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and a quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.


Fredericksburg Nationals: “The Fredericksburg Nationals fell behind early to the Pelicans and could not come back in a 7-3 defeat.”

“Myrtle Beach took the lead right away in the bottom of the first on a Moises Ballesteros home run to left field. Then in the second inning, the Pelicans extended their lead. Rafael Morel and Pedro Ramirez opened the frame with back-to-back singles, then Miguel Pabon doubled back up the middle to plate Morel to make it a 2-0 edge. Reivaj Garcia added another run with an RBI groundout before Ballesteros struck again with a single into right, which brought Pabon across with the fourth run.”
