PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, Va. — Starting this summer, riders who use the local and commuter buses in Prince William County, Manassas, and Manassas Park will pay more for the service.

Effective July 1, the Potomac and Rappahannock Transportation Commission (PRTC) is will increase fares for local and commuter services. The transit agency provides a series of OmniRide commuter bus services that take commuters to Arlington and Washington, and OmniLink – a local bus service within Prince William and Greater Manassas.


WOODBRIDGE, Va. — A Woodbridge man on Virginia’s sex offender registry faces charges once more, stemming from an incident inside a government building.

Police called to the Ferlazzo Government Building off U.S. 1 in Woodbridge spoke to a 43-year-old woman who told them she saw an unknown man expose himself to her, and then proposition her for sex. Officers were able to locate the suspect outside of the building, police spokesman Jonathan Perok said.


STAFFORD, Va. — Authorities don’t know what led to a fight between two young men, but now one is dead and other faces an involuntary manslaughter charge.

Kwesi Tyre Franklin, 20, of Stafford County, died after a confrontation with an acquaintance on Thursday, May 30. Police and rescue personnel were called to the area of Malvern Hill Court just after 10 p.m. where they found Franklin suffering from an apparent head wound. He was not able to speak to rescue workers, and he was taken to a local hospital where he later died June 1.


WOODBRIDGE, Va. — Northern Virginia Community College for the first time has awarded full two-year scholarships to incoming students enrolled in their honors program. And three students from high schools in Prince William County made the cut.

Ianna Alhambra, and Maria-Vera Alverez of Freedom High School, and Ana Quinteros-Gomez of Woodbridge Senior High School, will all receive scholarships to cover the cost of in-state tuition, books, and travel abroad for two years at the college also known as NOVA.


STAFFORD, Va. — One man escaped a burning townhouse with his life on Thursday after he jumped through a second-story window.

The blaze broke out about 2:30 p.m. at 30 Maple Drive in Stafford, near the county’s courthouse. The fire took three homes, but originated in a two-story house. The blaze was so large a second alarm was triggered to help crews douse the blaze which was out by 3:21 p.m., said Stafford fire and rescue Asst. Chief Mark Doyle.


PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, Va. — U.S. 15 in Virginia is a popular north-south route for travelers hoping to sidestep the state’s busy Interstate 95 corridor. The road runs from the North Carolina border connecting towns like Haymarket, Warrenton, and Leesburg. Ultimately it links South Carolina to New York, and this weekend police from all six jurisdictions in which the highway traverses will increase patrols

on U.S. 15 in an effort to save lives.

PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, Va. — More than three years before shovels hit the ground, the proposed 12th high school to be built in Prince William County is sparking debate because of the swimming pools that could be apart its design.

The building will be an adaptation of Patriot High School in Bristow, and this one would have a rear addition that would house two swimming pools.
