A total of 14 people were evacuated from nearby apartments in Downtown Manassas near the scene of the partial building collapse on Battle Street.

City spookeswoman Patty Prince said the evacuation was precautionary and that no one was hurt when a portion of a brick building gave way in the face of high winds. No one was injured. 


Retired Prince William County Deputy Finance Director Bill Hoffman passed away at his home in Catlett on Thursday.
Hoffman spent 33 years serving the residents of Prince William County.

The county’s flag that bears the Prince William County seal flew at half-staff outside the county’s McCoart Government Center on Prince William Parkway on Friday. It will remain at half-staff until Hoffman’s funeral service until Tuesday night.


Jason Pelt, a partner with the Law Firm of Goodall, Pelt & Carper, P.C., is seeking to run for the Stafford Commonwealth Attorney seat for the second time.

Pelt first ran back in 2011 against Eric Olsen, who currently holds the position, after Daniel Chichester, the preceding Commonwealth Attorney, decided to retire.


Theresa Elaine Brown escaped from Sentara Northern Virginia Medical Center in Woodbridge this morning while on police custody. Officers apprehended her again this afternoon at the Dumfries Shopping Center in Dumfries.

The 2014 Tri-County Walk to End Alzheimer’s, centered in Manassas, Virginia exceeded fundraising goals for 2014.

Manassas City Councilman Ian Lovejoy, who has served as Chairman of the Walk Committee for the last two years remarked “I’m not surprised by these great results because our community has always rallied when it needs to, especially for such great causes”. Mr. Lovejoy also represents Home Instead Senior Care on the committee.


At the end of December, the 95 Express Lanes became active toll lanes, running from Edsall Road to Garrisonville Road – following an over $250 million dollar 9-mile extension project.

In order to use the lanes, all drivers need to have an EZ-Pass, or EZ-Pass Flex mounted in their vehicles.


Drivers passing by saw blood on the pavement outside a popular shopping destination in the days leading up to Christmas.

According to the Stafford sheriff’s office, two men were involved in road rage argument. The men got out of their cars, and one stabbed the other. A victim was taken to a local hospital.
