Franchise owner Scott Lindsey just opened the first Sylvan Learning Center location in Stafford on Clement Drive and is planning to bring more than 20 jobs and an innovative STEM program to the area.

Lindsey has been with Sylvan for more than ten years and currently owns centers all across Northern Virginia, but as a Fredericksburg resident he felt that there was a need for Sylvan in the community.


Starting this summer, drivers in Stafford County will begin to see construction activity on Onville and Garrisonville Road as a road improvement project begins.

Set to be completed in March 2017, the $15.4 million dollar project will create double left turn lanes from eastbound Route 610 to Onville Road, according to Kelly Hannon, Communications Manager for the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT).


Over the past four days, our region felt some of the most coldest temperatures of the year.

More snow, up to an inch, is in the forecast today. The mercury is forecast to dip down again Thursday with an expected high temperature of 17 and a low of two degrees while wind chill factors will make it feel colder than that.


This morning, the Prince William Fire & Rescue Department responded to a call for a tent fire on Minnieville Road in Woodbridge. The tent’s occupant, an adult male, was found with second-degree burns on his body. He was airlifted to the Washington Burn Center for treatment.

When Brian Hollenbach moved to the Manassas area to launch his first Mexican restaurant El Cactus last year, he had two things in mind – great food and the community.

Located on 9406 Battle Street in Downtown Manassas, the restaurant has become known for its Taco Tuesdays and a rotating menu of quirky and playful ingredients.


Last week at the Manassas City Council meeting, two members of Manassas Fire & Rescue were promoted, and Mayor Parrish swore in a new member to the Department.

Master Technician Amos Akers and Master Technician Robert Bettis were the two firefighters promoted at the ceremony.
