“Today, 30 new Virginia State Police troopers reported to their respective Division Headquarters to begin the final phase of their training. The 126th Basic Session celebrated their graduation Friday (Oct. 6, 2017), at the state police Academy in North Chesterfield County. Upon receiving their diplomas, the new troopers finished a rigorous 29-week training session. They received instruction in more than 100 different subjects spanning hundreds of hours. Academy training includes such areas as crime scene investigation, survival Spanish, judicial procedures, self- defense, cultural diversity and firearms.
We’ve got the first information from Stafford County Fire and Rescue Chief Mark Lockhart on a townhouse fire in the 700 block of Olde Forge Drive in Stafford County on Friday night.

On the eve of the 154th anniversary of the Battle of Bristoe Station, The Civil War Trust announced it will preserve an additional 34 acres of land at the property near the intersection of Route 28 and Linton Hall Road in Bristow.

MANASSAS — Police swarmed Downtown Manassas about 4 p.m. after a report of shots fired.
A neighbor who lives on Main Street just south of the railroad tracks near the Manassas Museum called 911 to report hearing gunfire. Police were unable to find a gun. However, they were able to locate juveniles whom they believed were involved in the incident.

Attempted Armed Robbery – On October 11 at 3:14 p.m., officers responded to the area of Forestdale Ave and Beaumont Rd in Woodbridge (22193) to investigate a fight. The victim, a 33-year-old man of Woodbridge, reported to police that an acquaintance displayed a handgun and demanded the keys to his vehicle.
A series of public meetings will be held to discuss options for high-speed rail in Northern Virginia.
Located on the existing rail corridor that runs along the Potomac River in Prince William and Stafford counties, the “DC to Richmond Southeast High-Speed Rail,” or DC2RVA, service would add a third track along the corridor to improve passenger, commuter, and freight rail.
Prince William County Occoquan District Supervisor Ruth Anderson, her team, and Potomac Local will hold an Occoquan District Traffic Think Tank on Thursday, Oct. 19 at Buckhall Volunteer Fire Department Station at 7190 Yates Ford Road.
Davis Ford and Yates Ford roads are two very busy thoroughfares commuters from Prince William County use to get to Fairfax County.
