DUMFRIES, Va. — The Dumfries Business Association is expected to elect new leadership in February.
The association made up of business owners is expected to elect Chris Caldwell, owner of Dumfries-based Caldwell Consultants technology firm, as its new president. Caldwell is the only candidate on the ballot as of today and, if elected, will replace Rodney Cahow of Commutations in Action as the DBA President, who was previously appointed to the job.
It’s the merging of technical skills with people, and if it works, a Prince William-based consultant plans to grow in 2014.
Peggy Kimmey is the sole employee of Kimmey Training and Consulting, which works with small business owners and their sales staff to help them learn how to be more efficient communicators. It’s something she’s done professionally since 2005 after leaving a job as a computer programmer.
DUMFRIES, Va. — Customers at Virginia Commerce Bank will notice their financial institution’s new name on Feb. 1.
The bank, with locations in Prince William, Fairfax, Loudoun, and Fredericksburg, was acquired last year by United Bankshares, Inc. of Charleston, WVa.
NORTH STAFFORD, Va. — Sears is shutting its doors in Stafford.
The retailer will close its Home Appliance Showroom in the Stafford Marketplace. No closing date has been announced, according to a floor salesperson.
NORTH STAFFORD, Va. — The Medical Center of Stafford has changed has a new owner.
Woodbridge-based Cardinal Medicine purchased the center on Va. 610 in North Stafford this month from Mary Washington Healthcare, owners of Stafford Hospital (not impacted by the sale) and Mary Washington Hospital in Fredericksburg.

MANASSAS, Va. — Fulton Bank in Manassas gifted $1,000 to the Flory Small Business Center in Prince William County.
The money will be used to offset the cost of several small business start-up workshops the center holds throughout the year.

The restaurant will be located at 7418 Sudley Road, according to building permits on file with Prince William County. The location is near the Promenade at Manassas shopping center anchored by Home Depot and HH Gregg.
WOODBRIDGE, Va. — A new set of directors will lead the Prince William Association of Realtors.
A total of 16 people will lead the Realtor Association made up of real estate agents, brokers, and property appraisers. The organization, known as PWAR, has about 2,000 members on its roll books.
