MANASSAS, Va. – Two young men are hoping their dreams of starting a business will go up in smoke.

John Simo, of Manassas Park, and Chris Foster, of Manassas, both 22, are betting people will pay for a quality experience while smoking hookah, which is a large water pipe that accommodate two to three smokers at a time, and shisha, the flavored tobacco that is smoked from the pipe.


WOODBRIDGE, Va. — The economy in Prince William is getting a bit sweeter, you could say.

The county’s Economic Development Department on Tuesday will release its first quarter 2014 report and it shows $2.95 million in new investment from Elvaria, a company that makes frozen yogurt machines. The Virginia-based firm will bring 13 jobs to the county.


LAKE RIDGE, Va. — Another restaurant is coming to the growing Prince William Parkway corridor.

The Prince William County Planning Commission will decide if they will allow a Chick-fil-A restaurant to have a drive-through at a planned location on the corner of Prince William Parkway and Old Bridge Road. The new restaurant will sit in front of the Chinn Aquatics and Fitness Center, when constructed.


WOODBRIDGE, Va. — When it’s complete, it’ll be a more modern building in which to have surgery.

Sentara, operators of the Northern Virginia Medical Center in Woodbridge, is spending $35 million on a new surgical pavilion. If you’ve driven past the hospital at any point this past winter you’ve probably noticed the construction.


NORTH STAFFORD, Va. — A CVS Pharmacy on Va. 610 will soon be beside itself.

The national pharmacy chain has cleared trees next to its store at 388 Garrisonville Road in North Stafford to make way for a new, larger, 14,000 square foot store. The new store will be 1,000 square feet larger than the current pharmacy and feature double the parking spaces than its predecessor.


Coffee, java, wake-up juice – whatever you call it, you can get a free cup of it at McDonalds on Monday.

The fast-food chain will offer free small cups of coffee between March 31 and April 13 as part of its first national Free Coffee Event. Customers need only go to a McDonalds restaurant during normal breakfast hours to receive their free cup of McCafe coffee at participating restaurants.


MANASSAS, Va. — A Dollar General store in Manassas is expected to close its doors by the end of the month.

The store is located in the Davis Ford Shopping Center next to a new LA Fitness gym that recently opened at the intersection of Prince William Parkway and Wellington Liberia Avenue in Manassas.
