MANASSAS, Va. — A box truck clobbered a sedan on Hornbaker Road this afternoon outside Manassas.

The crash occurred at the intersection of Industrial Drive near the FBI Northern Virginia Headquarters. A Chevrolet sedan collided head on with a box truck causing the front of the car to crumble.

HAYMARKET, Va. — Jay Tobias, Haymarket’s vice mayor, was censured and is now forced to pay a $250 fine for alleged misconduct stemming from public intoxication charges filed on the day of the town’s largest public celebration.

Town officials Monday voted 4-3 to force Tobias to pay the fine on our before Oct. 21. Officials also censured Planning Commission and former Town Council member Robert Wier after Mayor David Leake pressed charges on him, claiming he was standing on a public street in mid conversation when Wier walked up to him and began cursing at him.

DUMFRIES, Va. — If U.S. 1 is going to be widened in Dumfries, Prince William County officials will not have anything to do with it.

County Executive Melissa Peacor sent an email stating her county’s government has no interest in managing the $1.6 million project for initial survey work and right of way cost to expand a 2-mile section of the heavily traveled north-south commuter route from Brady’s Hill Road to Wayside Drive, near a Walmart store.

STAFFORD COUNTY, Va. — Roberta Dews was last seen alive on Saturday, police said, but was found dead on Sunday inside her home.

Police said the 53-year-old woman was found by a family member who immediately called 911. That family member had come to her at 21 Kellogg Mill Road to check on her well being, said Stafford sheriff’s spokesman Bill Kennedy.

NORTH STAFFORD, Va. — Most metallic road signs tell you where to go, where you can’t go, or where there’s a greasy fast food restaurant at the next exit.

Most of the static signs don’t have printed dates, except for three new signs created for road work taking place this weekend on Va. 610 (Garrisonville Road) at Stafford Marketplace in North Stafford.

WOODBRIDGE, Va. — The Hilda Barg Homeless Prevention Center will welcome a new operator and expand its services to aide the area’s homeless population.

Action in the Community Through Service (ACTS) was selected by Prince William County to run the homeless public shelter on U.S. 1 in Woodbridge. The keys to the building are expected to quietly be passed from current operator Volunteers of America on Monday, Sept. 30.
