They’re places where residents may come to pay their property taxes and attend public meetings on everything from the administration of local government to learn better gardening tips during community group meetings.

Today, however, government buildings in Prince William County and the cities of Manassas and Fredericksburg are closed to the public.

The U.S. Small Business administration has declared Virginia, along with the rest of the country a disaster area in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak.

Now small businesses will be eligible for loans backed by the federal government. Small business owners and non-profit organizations may borrow up to $2 million due to the loss of business during the outbreak.

A shopping destination for people who live across the Mid-Atlantic temporarily closed today.

Potomac Mills mall in Woodbridge announced it would close today at 7 p.m. and would remain shuttered at least through March 27 29.

Manassas leaders told us today it has temporarily designated several parking spaces in downtown as 15-minute parking only to facilitate the pick-up and delivery options at the city’s restaurants.

The spaces will be marked, but include only the existing on-street parking along Battle and Main streets between Church Street and the railroad tracks. Surface parking lots and on-street spaces not in these areas will continue to be available under their current limitations, according to a city spokeswoman.

Schools in Stafford County will remain closed until April 15.

Division Superintendent Dr. Scott Kizner released a letter to parents and students today outlining the extended closure. Last week, Kizner announced schools would be shuttered until at least March 27 in the wake of the spread of the coronavirus.

OmniRide today announced several changes to help protect the public and OmniRide employees from the coronavirus outbreak.

OmniRide’s Local and Metro Express services are now providing users riders free of charge. These buses provide service between Manassas and western Prince Willliam County to the Tysons Corner Metro station, and from Woodbridge to the Franconia-Springfield Metro station.

All public buildings in Stafford County will close tomorrow as part of a national effort to curb the spread of the Chinese coronavirus.

The closure announcement comes a day after county administrator Thomas Foley declared a local state of emergency in Stafford. That is on top of declarations at the state and federal levels.
