For some business owners affected by the coronavirus recession, it may be time to change up their business models.

The Prince William County Economic Development Department is partnering with similar agencies in the region to provide a three-part webinar series that will examine the new normal for business owners, titled “Beyond COVID-19: NOVA Business Resiliency Webinars.”

More people who are now at home in Virginia due to Gov. Ralph Northam’s mandatory stay-at-home order prompted by the spread of the coronavirus appear to be taking stock, and clearing out old items that are past their prime.

From the Manassas City Government:

To establish the $60,000 pool of funds, the City applied for and received a $20,000 grant from the Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development. Per the City’s proposal, that amount was matched by two local entities – Historic Manassas Inc. (HMI) and the Economic Development Authority (EDA) – with the entire amount to be awarded to Historic Downtown restaurants, retailers, and personal service providers for rent relief.

A new bridge will soon link Fredericksburg to Stafford County.

Virginia Transportation officials awarded a construction contract to a Pennsylvania firm that will reconstruct the Chatham Bridge, which carries vehicles on Route 3 over the Rappahannock River. The bridge provides direct entry to Downtown Fredericksburg, as well as links the city to nearby Chatham Manor, a historic estate, and Ferry Farm, the boyhood home of George Washington.


Traffic

OmniRide will further reduce its Express commuter bus services as of Monday, April 27, due to low ridership during the coronavirus pandemic. While Express ridership has dropped by 90 percent, OmniRide will continue to operate a few core commuter routes that are serving essential personnel.

The move comes after the transit agency suspended bus fares back on March 18.
