Manassas will put on fireworks on show on Labor Day weekend.
The show come as the city joined other surrounding jurisdictions by canceling or postponing their annual July 4 fireworks shows.
A homeless shelter could replace Grace Church in Dumfries.
The Town Council will hold a public hearing at its September 15 meeting to decide whether or not to issue a zoning text amendment to allow the shelter to open inside the church at 1006 Williamstown Drive.

More people are being arrested in Prince William County, but, the overall crime rate is down.
A total of 12,644 people were placed in handcuffs in the county in 2019, according to the police department’s just-released annual report. That’s 99 more people than a year ago.

Stafford County fire crews were called to 19 Soaring Eagle Drive at 1:34 p.m. after someone reported smelling a strange odor in the building.

Crews have cleared the scene of the crash. No serious injuries reported.
Students across Stafford County are receiving their laptops.
Computers are being distributed at various school sites this week as classes are set to resume Monday, August 31. Classes are being held online only for at least the first month of school.
Update from Stafford fire and rescue
Just after 5:00 p.m. on Monday, August 24th, the Stafford County Fire and Rescue Department (SCFR) was dispatched for a reported residential structure fire in the 00 block of Shore Drive in the Widewater area of Stafford County. Due to the location of the residence and it’s proximity to Aquia Creek, mutual aid was requested from Quantico Fire and Emergency Services as well as fireboats from Fairfax County Fire and Rescue, Prince William Fire and Rescue and Charles County Fire and Emergency Medical Services.
