A new report suggests Virginia could release inmates convicted of marijuana drug crimes and then give them preferential treatment should they want to get into a state-regulated marijuana business.

Gov. Ralph Northam released a 90-page report on the effects of completely legalizing marijuana in the state, something he says he aims to do when the General Assembly reconvenes on January 13, 2021.

For a photographer, that particularly rings true, because if you’re not there, you miss the shot. On Sunday, our photographer was there outside a Goodwill store in North Stafford as smoke billowed out of the building due to a fire in a trash compactor.

A trash compactor caught fire at a Goodwill store in North Stafford.

At about 11:30 a.m. Sunday, November 29 the Stafford County Fire and Rescue was called to fire at Goodwill Industries located at 72 Doc Stone Drive. Callers reported a trash compactor was on fire at this location.

For the past five months, we’ve heard from multiple people who called police officers in Prince William County everything, from racists to terrorists to members of the prison industrial complex.

These speakers stand at a microphone and voice their opinions during the citizen comment portion of the Supervisors’ meetings, are very vocal, have called for abolishing the police department altogether, and often evoke the applause of their supporters who stand outside the meeting room to rally for their cause.

For years, Prince William County residents have praised their police department.

Citizen satisfaction surveys dating back to 2007, when the county initiated its controversial immigration policy that initially required officers to check the legal immigration status of anyone suspected of being in the U.S. illegally, show the department received high marks from ethnicities across the board, including Asians, Blacks, Hispanics, and Whites.

The DMV Select at Dumfries Town Hall will remain shuttered indefinitely.

Town Manager Keith Rogers told members of the Town Council at a meeting on Tuesday, November 17. He plans to keep the center shuttered until the number of new coronavirus cases reported in Prince William County decline.
