Commercial Burglary – On June 8 at 8:42 a.m., officers responded to the Glass City Tobacco Store located at 7600 Gardner Park Dr. in Gainesville (20155) to investigate a burglary. When the owner of a nearby business arrived in the area that morning, he observed the front glass door of the store was damaged and immediately contacted the police. The video surveillance footage revealed that two unknown individuals used an object to shatter the glass front door before entering the store. Vaporizers were reported missing.

Police did not release the video footage.

Helen W. Smith of Woodbridge, VA, beloved wife of the late Norman H. Smith and loving mother of Bruce, Maureen, Donna, Janice, Nancy, Patricia and Sharon as well as grandmother to many grandchildren and great grandchildren passed away peacefully at her home on April 29, 2021.

Helen was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and resided in Woodbridge, Virginia for the past 60 years. She was a devout Catholic and served multiple leadership roles throughout her life in addition to volunteering in her community which included logging in walkers at Potomac Mills Mall for over 30 years. We mourn the loss of your presence and we will carry your memory in our hearts forever.


Obituaries

Joseph (Will) Rogers, 85, of Woodbridge, Virginia, passed away on June 3, 2021, of complications of Parkinson’s Disease, with his family at his bedside.

Will was born in Baltimore, Maryland on September 8, 1935 to Joseph Rogers and Mildred Gerbig Rogers.  He grew up in the Baltimore area, graduating from Catonsville High School in 1953.  He obtained a BS in Accounting from the Baltimore College of Commerce, and had a long career as an accountant/controller.

While the Manassas City Library, at 10104 Dumfries Road, has been open for a few months, a ribbon-cutting ceremony held on Monday, June 7 brought together Prince William County and City of Manassas elected officials, Friends of the Library and residents along with County and city staff to make things official.

Ronnie Campbell, 69, of Clarkton, NC, passed away on June 6th, 2021.

Ronnie Campbell was born in North Carolina to Clyde Campbell and Estelle Armstrong on August 23, 1951. He married Lynn Campbell on September 21, 1974 in Woodbridge, Virginia. He graduated from Gar-Field high school.  He worked as a plumber for 40+ years. He was a member of the Manassas moose lodge for 37 years.
