In April, the Prince William Committee of 100 will gaze into the future when it hosts its monthly dinner and program. The program “What will Prince William County Look Like in the Future?” will take place on Thursday, April 16 at the Montclair County Club, 16500 Edgewood Drive, Montclair, VA, 22025. Networking begins at 6:30 p.m.; dinner 7 p.m. and the program will begin at 7:45 p.m.

The rapid growth in Prince William County over the past decade has presented enormous challenges, such as: overcrowded classrooms, inefficient commuter traffic patterns, shortages of public amenities, and over-stressed public safety resources.  Jobs and housing are two drivers of the future economy in Prince William County.  Current economic conditions may threaten growth in quality jobs, housing values and business opportunities.  In large measure, the future of Prince William County’s quality of life will be determined by how it adapts its policies and sets priorities.

There will be a  “After the War” Civil War Symposium on May 16, 2015 at the Old Manassas Courthouse is downtown  Manassas.

Thousands of families and business leaders across the Washington D.C. Metro Area will join together in the March of Dimes annual March for Babies – the nation’s oldest walk fundraiser honoring babies born healthy and those that need help to survive and thrive.

Disney’s Beauty and the Beast is the classic story of Belle, a young woman in a provincial town, and the Beast, who is really a young prince trapped in a spell placed by an enchantress. If the Beast can learn to love and be loved, the curse will end and he will be transformed to his former self. But time is running out. If the Beast does not learn his lesson soon, he and his household will be doomed for all eternity. 

Sinclair Elementary School in Manassas, Virginia is excited to announce our Multicultural Festival on Friday, April 10, 2015, from 6pm to 8pm. 

The Multicultural Festival will give Sinclair students and families the opportunity to share and showcase food, dress, artifacts and information about their own cultures. Additionally students, families, and the community at large will have the opportunity to learn and appreciate that people from different cultures have different values, languages, preferences, and behaviors associated with their cultures. Students will learn to accept these differences and appreciate them. This acquired knowledge with help students break down cultural stereotypes in our school and our society as a whole.

The MCPS Education Foundation is pleased to announce that it has awarded more than $74,000 to programs in Manassas City Public Schools (MCPS) this year. The Foundation’s Grants program encourages educators to identify and develop solutions to educational challenges.

Lisa Harlow, STEM Instructional Coach earned funding for a new program “Take a Closer Look”, which will provide each classroom at Haydon Elementary with a hand held microscope/camera and an iPad to view the images. “This will allow students to more closely examine the scientific world around them. From simple observations in Kindergarten to the study of plant reproduction in grade four, access to these microscopes and the ability to view and record the images will enhance our students understanding of the standards they are expected to master.”

Residents in the immediate vicinity of Marine Corps Base Quantico may experience an increase in noise as an affect from ground/aircraft training or range clearance operations during the week of Apr. 4-10.
