Ann Marie Plunkett Brien passed from this world Monday, August 21, 2017 at 12:30 AM at the age of 81. Born in Rathgar, Dublin on December 7, 1935 to Patrick and Sarah Plunkett, Ann was the fourth of seven children and educated at the Loretto schools in Dublin. In August of 1958 she followed her fiance, Hugh James Brien to Long Island, New York where they were married in February of 1959 at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Manhattan.

She was a faithful and loving wife and mother of five children, Sally Holper (Dan), Susan Campbell, Una Geary (Pat), Hugh, and Deirdre Pennefather (Richard).

Her husband Hugh’s job in the U.S. Border Patrol took them to Texas where she gave birth to her first three children. In 1966, the family relocated to Woodridge, Illinois a suburb of Chicago. The two youngest Briens were born there. In 1972 the family moved to Manassas, Virginia, their final residence, and became active members of the community.

Ann was a devout Roman Catholic and an active member of All Saints Catholic Church where she served with the St. Vincent de Paul Society, as a Eucharistic minister to the sick and dying, and as a catechist. She had a vibrant presence at the Caton Merchant House, a local nursing home, and was a beacon of light for the elderly residents.

As a dedicated housewife and homemaker, Ann spent much of her time cooking and caring for both her children and later her twenty-four grand-children. Upon entering her house, a guest was given the utmost attention and invited to have a cup of hot Irish tea and good chat. She was the queen of her home and the paragon of hospitality. She also taught her children and grandchildren the importance of prayer and good works, charity being the primary virtue which she demonstrated during her lifetime. Her fierce and nurturing love for her children and for the Lord led her to be the bond that held the Brien family together.

The tables turned in the summer of 2011 when she became suddenly disabled, and her husband and children became her chief caregivers—an opportunity for her family to give back to her a fragment of what she had given to them for so many years. Even in the years after her stroke, Ann possessed an unwavering air of dignity and a steadfast faith.

She will always be remembered for her firm will and her charming aura, attending always to the often forgotten details, and a great advocate for those lonely and forgotten. Ann will live on in our memories and prayers and may she rest in eternal peace. Eternal rest grant unto them Oh Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them! Amen.

Visitation at Pierce Funeral Home, Manassas, VA, August 24 from 2:00 to 5:00 PM and 6:00 to 9:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at All Saints Catholic Church, Manassas, VA at 12 noon. Private interment to follow.

Jack Mason Cornell, age 88, of Dumfries, VA, passed away on August 20, 2017. Beloved husband of almost 63 years to Nancy Bramell Cornell. Loving father of William J. Cornell and Milton R. Cornell (Marie). Cherished grandfather of Jason Cornell, Jeremy Cornell and Brittany Cornell. Great grandfather of J.J., Savanah, Jace, and Libby. Also survived by several nieces and nephews, as well as His-In-Laws; Milton R. Bramell, Frederick L. Bramell,and Debbie Curlee. He was predeceased by his 7 siblings.

Jack retired as a warehouseman for the C.I.A. His family was his heart and soul. When not attending an auction with his wife, he could be found fishing, or watching his favorite football team; the Washington Redskins. His favorite time was spent with his sons. Beach vacations were a family affair.

The family will receive friends at the Mountcastle Turch Funeral Home, 4143 Dale Boulevard, Dale City, VA 22193 on Thursday, August 24 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM, where funeral services will be held on Friday, August 25 at 10 AM. Interment will follow in Dumfries Cemetery

Rev. Robert Harold (Bob) Adair, 70, departed from his earthly home in Dumfries, VA to enter his eternal heavenly home on Aug.17, 2017,after living victoriously and faithfully with cancer for the past 3 years. He often quoted the verse, “For me, to live is Christ and to die is gain”. (Philippians 1:21) as he shared with everyone he met the hope that was within him as he finished his course of this earthly life..
Bob is survived by his wife of 45 years, Deborah , his children and their spouses, Rebecca Hellmann and husband Thomas (Ric), of Dumfries, VA and Matthew and wife Julie Adair of Bloomington, MN and by the delight of his life, his grandchildren, Jacob, Caleb and Savannah Hellmann and Eloise and Adeline Adair. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Lorene Adair of Leoma, TN.
Following graduation from Loretto High School in TN, Bob enlisted in the US Navy and served 4 years during Viet Nam as an aviation electrician. After leaving the Navy, he completed his education at the University of North Alabama and then received his Masters of Divinity from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. He was the pastor of 3 churches before receiving a commission into the US Navy Chaplain Corp in 1979, and enjoyed a 20 year ministry aboard ships, on Navy and Marine bases, and with the US Coast Guard. He served in both the Atlantic and Pacific fleets and deployed with the Marines to Korea and Okinawa, and with the Coast Guard to the Caribbean for the Haitian and the Cuban boat lifts.
After retirement from the Navy with the rank of Commander, Bob accepted the call to pastor Highland Park Baptist Church in Columbia, TN, where he served for 12 years, completing his Doctor of Ministry degree during this time. After retiring from full time ministry, he then enjoyed ministering as the interim pastor for three local churches while continuing to be active in the community and in serving the Columbia American Legion as their chaplain, as well as serving two terms as state chaplain for the Tennessee American Legion. During the last year and a half of his life, Bob and Deborah moved to Virginia to be near family, and he continued to encourage others by his faith.
A Celebration of Life memorial service will be at Highland Park Baptist Church on Sunday, Aug. 20, at 2:00. The family will receive visitors before and after the service. Internment with military honors will be held at Quantico National Cemetery, Virginia, on Tues. Aug.22 at 2:00. The family requests that anyone wishing to honor Bob not send flowers but rather donate to the benevolence fund at Maury County Veterans Services, or to the missions fund of Highland Park Baptist Church.

Charles Ted Bauserman, age 71, born May 18, 1946, passed away on August 17, 2017, at his home in Wilmington, North Carolina. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles L. "Chic" and mother, Dorothy V. He is survived by his daughter Cyndi Lee Allen (A. Scott Allen), of Greensboro, NC, his sister Jo Marie Duke (Marty Duke) of Huntsville, AL, forever friend Sandra Taylor Cottrell, two nieces, a nephew and several loving cousins.

Ted was a graduate of Osbourn High School and went on to attend Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Virginia. After moving to Wilmington, North Carolina Ted retired from Talbott & Bright in 2014.

He will always be remembered by friends as having a quick wit, good sense of humor and love of music. Growing up Ted was a member of several local bands, most popular of which was the “Turmoil”. He enjoyed watching sports and was a big fan of the Carolina Panthers, and the Virginia Tech, Hokies.
