The Prince William County Police Department wants the public to know there is still time to help meet our goal in support Virginia Special Olympics by signing up with Team PWCPD for the 2021 Polar Plunge.

This year’s event, which culminates on Saturday, will look a little different due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but participants can still have a fantastic time supporting a great cause. Plunge Week is Feb. 1-6, 2021, with a virtual celebration on Feb. 6, 2021.

Stafford Hospital recently held a virtual ribbon cutting for their $2.5 million state-of-the-art cardiac catheterization lab. This lab is a part of the expansion of the hospital’s heart care services for the Stafford region, which includes the newly formed Mary Washington Cardiology practice in affiliation with Oracle Heart & Vascular located in the Stafford Medical Pavilion.

“As we celebrate our 12th year, Stafford Hospital continues to contribute to the health of our community by providing cardiac care and life-saving procedures, performed by talented, highly trained cardiologists,” said Cathy Yablonski, Administrator, Stafford Hospital. “This dedicated cardiac catheterization lab along with the opening of the Mary Washington Cardiology practice proves our commitment to meet the healthcare needs of our region well into the future.”

Doris Lee Shepherd, 63 departed this life on January 25, 2021 at Bridgepoint Hospital in Washington D.C.

She was born on February 13, 1957 in Alexandria, Virginia to the late Ernest Shepherd and Lucille Marie Darcus- Shepherd. She worked in the adult health care field and the cosmetology until retired.

Obituaries

Betty Erickson was born in 1923 and died surrounded by family on January 26, 2021. She had one sister and two half-brothers. She was married to Richard Erickson for over 54 years and raised nine children. She is preceded in death by her parents, her sister, her husband, and two sons.  She is survived by her brothers, children, and her gaggle of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  She regularly updated a “brag wall,” composed of framed pictures of each one of her kids’ families that encircled the top of her bedroom walls like crown moulding.
