INDEPENDENT HILL — Twelve new blue signs mark the entrances to Prince William County’s first scenic byways.

The signs note the new street designation, featuring the state bird red cardinal, and were unveiled Tuesday morning at the intersection of Bristow and Joplin roads at Independent Hill. Six roads in all made the cut:

DALE CITY — A church built in 2006 only to sit dormant since its construction will finally open. 

Victory Christian Ministries International purchased the property at 14015 Minnieville Road in Dale City in 2013 for $8.1 million at a Prince William County Circuit Court auction, a church official tells Potomac Local.

WOODBRIDGE — There are phone problems this morning at the Potomac and Rappahannock Transportation Commission.

The bus agency operates OmniLink local buses in Prince William County, Manassas, and Manassas Park. Under normal circumstances, riders who use OmniLink may call ahead to schedule a pick-up anywhere along an OmniLink route, up to a quarter of a mile off the route.

MANASSAS — Residents fought back tears on Monday after the Manassas City Council declined to vote on the fate of the East End Mobile Home Park.

Residents of the failed trailer park at 9021 Centreville Road in Manassas were notified 11 months ago they would need to find new homes as the city was nearing a deal to purchase the property for $1.9 million. The reason: a sanitary sewer system on the property failed. Stormwater mixes with sewage and flows back into to a water treatment plant and can mix with the city’s drinking water.
