In January, Tom Coen was plucked from a laundry list of candidates who all wanted an interim seat on the Stafford County Board of Supervisors.
His fellow board members chose him after Bob Thomas vacated the seat after he won election to the Virginia House of Delegates.
PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY — (Press Release) The Prince William County Department of Finance wants to remind residents that personal property taxes are due on or before Friday, October 5, 2018.
There are several convenient ways to pay your bill. If you choose to pay by check, payments should be mailed in the remittance envelope included with your tax bill. Checks for payment of taxes should be made payable to “Prince William County.” Payments by mail must be postmarked no later than October 5, 2018, to avoid a late payment penalty and interest charges.
STAFFORD COUNTY — Traffic began moving again on Interstate 95 south in Stafford County about 1 o’clock this afternoon.
A southbound portion of the highway was closed about an hour earlier at milepost 142 just before the Stafford exit after at least two tractor-trailers were involved in a crash.
Woodbridge VA – Col. Lorraine (Shaw) DuBois Goodrich, USMC (Ret.), age 70, native of Amherst MA, passed away on May 16, 2018.
Lorraine graduated from Amherst Regional High School in 1965. After graduating in German from UMass-Amherst in 1969, she joined the U. S. Navy in 1970,transferring to the Marine Corps a year later. After retiring from active duty, she joined the reserves until final retirement
Sanford Williams is seeking another term on the Manassas City School Board.
He currently serves as Chairman of the Board, and this election cycle he’s put the focus on the division’s push to build a new Jennie Dean Elementary School.

GAINESVILLE — (Press Release) On September 22 at 2:29 a.m., investigators from the Crash Investigation Unit responded to the area of Sudley Road near Catharpin Road in Gainesville (20155) to investigate a crash involving a pedestrian.
The investigation revealed a white, 4-door sedan was traveling westbound on Sudley Rd when the vehicle struck a pedestrian, identified as a 17-year-old male juvenile. The juvenile, a family member, and co-worker were completing a sealcoat job of a driveway at a residence in the above area at the time of the collision.
