Fredericksburg baseball passes 1,000 season tickets

FREDERICKSBURG — (Press Release) Fredericksburg Baseball kicked off sales of season tickets on December 1 with its “Founders Club” event held in historic Market Square. That day, more than 185 individuals and groups joined the Founders Club representing more than 600 reservations for full season ticket plans.

By joining the Founders Club, these fans locked in the ability to be the first fans to select their season tickets at the team’s new state-of-the-art ballpark scheduled to open in 2020 in Celebrate Virginia South.

Suspect charged with reckless handling of a firearm after dispute

STAFFORD — (Press Release) A suspect was arrested by deputies with the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office in the early hours of Saturday morning for reckless handling of a firearm.

On December 15, 2018, Deputies Potter and Kellam responded to a reported domestic incident with a weapon on the 100 block of Colebrook Road. Several callers reported hearing shots fired in the area.

Hooded robber hits United Bank on Smoketown Road

WOODBRIDGE — (Press Release) Bank Robbery – On December 14 at 9:15 a.m., officers responded to the Smoketown Road in Woodbridge (22192) to investigate a robbery.

The investigation revealed that an unknown man entered the bank then approached the teller counter. During the encounter, the suspect United Bank located at 13870 Smoketown Road implied he had a weapon and demanded money.

New composting system breaks ground in Prince William County

PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY — (Press Release) On Tuesday, December 11, Freestate Farms LLC, an organic waste recycling company based in Northern Virginia, broke ground to begin construction of its new advanced aerobic composting system at the Prince William County Balls Ford Road Composting Facility in Manassas.

Coles District Supervisor Martin E. Nohe (Prince William County Board), County Executive Christopher E. Martino, and members of the County’s Solid Waste Division lent a hand to turn the first shovelfuls of dirt for the project.

Mrs. Wanda Wall Lawson went to be with her Lord on December 15, 2018. She was a resident of Massanutten, VA for the past 13 years. Formerly a resident of Woodbridge, Va. for over 40 years. Wanda was born December 16, 1923 in Princeton, WVa. to Mr. and Mrs. John Clarence Wall.

Mrs. Lawson was preceded in death by her husband of over 70 years, Mr. James E. Lawson, Sr. Her sister Violet Wall Gillock and both of her brothers Clayton Shelby Wall and Bill Clarence Wall.
