A bill that will allow the county government to remove shrubbery from roadways that are blocking the view of drivers.
Currently, it’s the Virginia Department of Transportation’s job to clear overgrowth from the roads. The bill was introduced by Virginia Senator Richard Stuart (R-Stafford, Prince William), and Delegates Joshua Cole (D-28, Fredericksburg, Stafford) and Mark Cole (R-88, Fredericksburg, Spotsylvania).
On January 7th, 2020 Miyoko Paul, 96 of Woodbridge, Virginia was called home.
She passed peacefully in Ohio’s Hospice of Dayton. She leaves behind her late husband William Paul, son Junichi (George) Naito, daughter Wanda Paul-Brazalovics, son in law James Brazalovics, grandchildren Paula Naito, Katie Brazalovics, Justin Brazalovics, Taylor Brazalovics. Great-grandchildren Kaylee Feldt, Bryson Brazalovics and Landon Feldt.
Prince William County’s newest high school will won’t be located on the street residents had thought it would be.
The Prince William Board of County Supervisors voted to change the address of the soon-to-be-built high school near Gainesville.
Press release | More than 600 Virginians died from opioid overdoses in the first half of 2019. In the past few years, drug overdoses took more lives than car crashes or guns. In an effort to stem the rising tide of deaths, Rappahannock Area Community Services Board now offers REVIVE! training.
REVIVE! helps individuals learn how to recognize an opioid overdose and how to use naloxone to reverse an overdose. Anyone who has a friend or relative using opioids should attend the training. Each attendee will receive a free REVIVE! kit provided by the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services. The kit includes the supplies needed to administer naloxone. The opioid antidote can be purchased at pharmacies without a prescription in Virginia.

Press release | The senior class officers and Student Council Association (SCA) at Stafford High School (SHS) are coordinating a voter registration drive at 9:20 a.m. on Tuesday, January 21, 2020. Part motivational speech, part educational assembly, the event will inform SHS seniors on voter registration procedures, obtaining a photo identification, and the absentee ballot process before providing approximately 50 Chromebooks in the auditorium for students to register to vote.
“It’s important that the youth in this country honor their civic duty and vote because we are the future leaders of the world,” said Davis Smith, SHS Senior Class President. “We should do what we can to shape the future in whatever way possible.”

The officers club in recent years has been open to the public and has played hose to multiple events, to include the Prince William Chamber of Commerce Annual Salute to the Armed Forces luncheon which attracts several local dignitaries and business owners.
Prince William police were called this week to two reports of indecent exposure. The first in Bristow and the second in Dale City.
Prince William police press release | Indecent Exposure – On January 5 at 10:06AM, officers responded to investigate an indecent exposure that was reported to have occurred in the wooded walking paths at the end of Hunting Cove Pl. in Bristow (20136). The victim, a 51-year-old woman, reported to police that an unknown man, later identified as the accused, exposed himself to her while walking in the above area. The victim turned around after he passed and observed the accused expose himself again and make obscene gestures. The accused fled the area after the victim stated she was contacting the police. While investigating, officers received information regarding the identity of the accused. Following the investigation, the accused, identified as, Michael Francis FERNANDEZ Jr., was arrested.
This year, the Prince William County Police Department turns 50 years old, and it is remembering its history in a series of social media posts.
There have been four department chiefs since its founding, with current chief Barry Barnard being the fourth to lead the department. He was promoted to the rank of chief in 2016.
