Stafford, Va. –– It appears school officials in Stafford County have selected who will be the next superintendent of the county’s public school system.

The county’s school board will hold a special meeting at 5 p.m. Monday announce who the new superintendent will be, said Stafford schools spokeswoman Valerie Cottongim.


Triangle, Va. –– Bullet holes still remain at the National Museum of the Marine Corps, where someone last week fired several shots into the exterior of the building.

Visitors have asked why someone would take aim at the museum, which has become a polarizing symbol of the U.S. Marine Corps.

Woorbridge, Va. –– Home values in the Potomac Communities may be on the way up.

According to a report today in DCist, houses in the 22191 (Woodbridge) and 22193 (Dale City) zip codes have been selling on average just below their actual list prices, putting the neighborhood on Washington, D.C. – based real estate firm ZipRealty’s “cool list.” (more…)

Lake Ridge, Va. –– Police say a man robbed a grocery store and then led police on a chase, all while his young child was inside the getaway car.

Officers were called to the Bloom grocery store at 12420 Dillingham Square in Lake Ridge at 9:53 p.m. Monday for a report of a robbery.


Fairfax County, Va. –– As flu season approaches, Fairfax County officials are betting many have questions how to protect themselves from getting sick.

An online discussion will be held at 11 a.m. on the county’s Web site where residents can ask questions about the upcoming flu season to Dr. Peter Troell, of the county’s health department.


Quantico

Quantico, Va. –– It’s going to get loud near the Quantico Marine Corps Base this week.

On Wednesday and Thursday, residents who live near the base may have their windows rattled as explosives will be set off on base as part of munitions training.
