It happened at 4:21 a.m. Thursday in the 3800 block of Core Place in Lake Ridge.
The victim apparently threw a snowball at a man shoveling snow, then the man approached the victim, a fight ensured and the suspect pulled out a box cutter and slit the victim’s throat, said Prince William police spokesman Jonathan Perok. (more…)
The snow on Wednesday afternoon piled up on area roads quickly, catching some area commuters off guard.
Fairfax County, Va. –– It’s the morning after the first major snowfall of the season and stalled and abandoned cars, icy conditions, downed power lines and trees are making it a slow going for commuters and road crews.
Fairfax: Meeting scheduled at South County Secondary School to discuss future ownership of the waste-to-energy plant in Lorton has been postponed until 7 pm. February 3.
Fairfax County Public Schools will be closed. Offices are open with unscheduled leave in effect.

Dominion Virginia Power is reporting outages in the following areas:
Woodbridge, Va. –– A Metropolitan Police officer faces a charge in Prince William County.
Police were called on Sunday to the 2700 block of Brier Pond Circle near Dumfries for a report of shots fired. They arrested one man in connection to the incident, but now there’s word of another arrest in the case.
