With light snow in the forecast, over 800 people grabbed their coats and their kites to enjoy an early spring festival at Gunston Hall on Saturday.

Each spring, the Friends of Gunston Hall host a kite festival to support the historic site’s education fund.  Susan Blankenship, Development Program Coordinator, says that the local community have come to expect a great program facilitated by dedicated volunteers who come as period actors.

A special meeting of the county’s board of supervisors to adopt the redistricting plan was announced late Friday night, to be held at 7:30 p.m. April 18 at the Prince William County Government Center in Woodbridge.

The county originally thought they would have until May 17 to adopt the new redistricting plan.

Anyone who has ever driven in the Occoquan area of Woodbridge may recall less than fond memories of massive gridlock and a sometimes tortuous daily commute. This rise in traffic issues has called for an expansion of U.S. 1 by the Virginia Department of Transportation, which has plans to raise the street level and add on-ramps in place of ordinary intersection turns.

A meeting was held March 24 to showcase the current plans for the project and allow residents to voice their concerns about the coming changes. The meeting, attended by over 100 people, started with a question and answer period, followed by a formal presentation given by those involved with the project.
