Fairfax County, Va. ââ One person was killed Wednesday night in crash on Interstate 95 near Springfield.
It appears the driver of an SUV lost control of the vehicle at 7:08 p.m. while traveling north on the highway, near mile post 166. The vehicle was traveling in the far right lane, flipped, and then crossed three lanes of traffic and landed on its top of the Jersey Wall on the left shoulder, said Virginia State Police spokeswoman Corinne Geller.
The passenger was killed instantly, and the driver was flown to a local hospital with injuries that did not appear to be life threatening.

Alexandria, Va. ââ Â Transportation officials called for continued vigilance after federal authorities say a Virginia man planned to bomb several Metro stations next year.
Farooque Ahmed, 34, of Ashburn, was arrested Wednesday after investigators said he was working with suspected members of al-Qaeda in planning multiple bombings at Metro stations.
Ahmed was indicted in an Alexandria federal court yesterday on charges of attempting to provide material to support a designated terrorist organization, collecting information to assist in planning a terrorist attack on a transit facility, and with attempting to provide material to support to help carry out multiple bombings to cause mass casualties on the Metro system, according to federal officials.
Farooque remained under federal surveillance between April and Oct. 25, and was unable to carry out any of the alleged planned attacks. Read More

Fairfax County, Va. ââ A door-to-door meat salesman is under arrest, and police in the Groveton area say he may be linked to a series of burglaries there.
Officers were called to the 6300 block of Chimney Wood Court, just off South Kings Highway, about 4 p.m. Wednesday, after a woman said her purse was missing.
The homeowner told police a man who was selling meats came to her door, but when she said she didnât want to buy anything, she closed the door and went back to what she was doing. Read More

Fairfax County, Va. ââ The body of a 61-year-old Alexandria man was found Tuesday at a bus stop in Franconia.
The body was found at the intersection of Franconia and Gildar roads about 8 a.m., according to a Fairfax County police spokesman.
An autopsy of the body found the man died of natural causes. Read More
Stafford, Va. ââ It appears school officials in Stafford County have selected who will be the next superintendent of the countyâs public school system.
The countyâs school board will hold a special meeting at 5 p.m. Monday announce who the new superintendent will be, said Stafford schools spokeswoman Valerie Cottongim.

Triangle, Va. ââ Bullet holes still remain at the National Museum of the Marine Corps, where someone last week fired several shots into the exterior of the building.
Visitors have asked why someone would take aim at the museum, which has become a polarizing symbol of the U.S. Marine Corps.
âWe tell [visitors] what happened, and by in large, itâs been âwhat a shame, this is such a beautiful place,ââ said museum spokeswoman Gwen Adams.
Bullets shattered some of the glass at the museum on Oct. 17, causing more than $20,000 damage.
Two days later, six to seven slugs were found embedded in windows at the Pentagon after someone began shooting at the building about 5 a.m., forcing an early morning lock down of the military facility. Read More
Triangle, Va. ââ Investigators now say the same gun that was used to shoot at the National Museum of the Marine Corps was also used to shoot at the Pentagon.
And now the FBI is investigating a third shooting at a Marine Corps Recruiting Center that took place overnight in Chantilly.

According to a report today in DCist, houses in the 22191 (Woodbridge) and 22193 (Dale City) zip codes have been selling on average just below their actual list prices, putting the neighborhood on Washington, D.C. â based real estate firm ZipRealtyâs âcool list.â
The two zip codes are considered to be in the top 10 of the âhottestâ zip codes in the area for homes sales, according to the local real estate firm.
