Word of the end for the world came to Woodbridge on Tuesday afternoon.
Jim Hyland took his 5 foot by 3 foot banner, tied one side of it to a light post at the intersection of U.S. 1 and Opitz Boulevard, and then let everyone know he thinks the the beginning of the end of the world starts next month.
A plan put forth by the Prince William Board of Supervisors, called the seven district alternative map, moves Freedom High School on Neabsco Mills Road from the Woodbridge district into the Neabsco District (Dale City).
The issue was discussed last night as residents spoke at a public hearing about the county’s magisterial redistricting process ––mandated every 10 years after the census –– to determine voting precincts and who will represent neighborhoods on the Board of Supervisors.

The Potomac Health Foundation has announced its kickoff event from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Thursday at the Hylton Education Center at Sentara Potomac Hospital in Wooddbridge.
Independent from the hospital it shares its name with, the newly-founded organization has invited members of non-profit organizations to the event to learn how they can apply for grant funding. Some public sector companies will also be considered for grant funding.
Montclair, Va. –– Police have charged a woman in an alleged murder for hire.
Prince William police and agents from the Northern Virginia Violent Crimes Taskforce say 34-year-old Sonia Guerrero Kuske, of Springbranch Boulevard in Montclair tried to hire an undercover detective to kill her husband.
At 6:30 p.m., minority residents are expected to present their drawn maps that are expected to counter the lines drawn by officials that for the next 10 years will govern political boundaries and districts in the county. The presentation will be held at the Prince William County Government Center in Woodbridge.
A press release from the organizing group says minorities have for years been excluded from county services under previously drawn maps.
It happened in the 200 block of Garrisonville Road (Va. 610) at 4:55 p.m. in North Stafford, when a man and woman were walking along Va. 610 when another woman driving a car pulled alongside them and began to harass the couple, investigators said.
As it turns out, the driver use to be in a relationship with the male victim, and the two began arguing. The driver struck the male with her car, and then got out and proceeded to hit the victim, said Stafford sheriff’s spokesman Bill Kennedy.
Kevin Lockland represented Kevin Kirk after a former Prince William County Park Ranger, Carillo Dean, shot and killed his 13-year-old son Connor, 15-year-old daughter Brittany, and his 45-year-old ex-wife Elizabeth inside of their Triangle home.
“I’ve spoken with the paramedics who worked the night of the shooting, and with the doctors at the hospital and learned that Brittany suffered a non-recoverable wound,” said Lockland.
Stafford, Va. — The county’s Board of Supervisors has before them today a proposal to include Va. 630, between Red Oak Drive and Stafford Avenue into the Courthouse Streetscape Improvement Project.
