Frederick, Md. –– A trio of base-running blunders erased the Potomac Nationals only real scoring chances on Monday night in Frederick, and cost them in a 2-0 loss to the Keys in front of 3,266 at Harry Grove Stadium.

Justin Bloxom was picked off at first base to end the game in the ninth inning – a frame in which the Nats put the tying runs aboard with no outs.

About 9 p.m. Friday, Stafford sheriff’s deputies were called to a CVS Pharmacy on Garrisonville Road (Va. 610) by an employee who said he had fake order for a prescription.

A call from the pharmacy to the doctor’s office listed on the order also revealed the order was fake, and that’s when deputies posted outside the pharmacy and waited for the suspect to return, said Stafford sheriff’s spokesman Bill Kennedy.

Sandy Leon got the Nationals (14-22) on the board in the second inning, with some help from Steven Souza’s speed. After Souza walked with one out, he stole first base when Matusz paid him no mind. After J.P. Ramirez flied out to center for the second out, Souza also took off with a 1-2 pitch to Leon. Leon lined it to left field, scoring Souza and staking the Nats to a 1-0 lead.

Matusz, the Orioles’ ace, made his first rehab start recovering from a ribcage injury. He went four innings, threw the prescribed 60 pitches, and found a nice groove. He allowed one earned run on two hits, with a pair of strikeouts and two walks.
