Beginning this week, the largest cable company in the nation began requiring customers in Prince William and Stafford counties to get digital set top boxes to continue receiving many of their regular channels.
Customers who haven’t already switched to digital service on Tuesday were greeted with a message on their TV screens stating upgrades to Comcast’s network would require customers to get additional equipment to continue receiving many of the Comcast’s channels they have come to expect.

The Boys and Girls Club will hold its Summer Camp Heiser beginning June 20 at the General Heiser Memorial Branch of the Boys and Girls Club, at 17565 Old Stage Coach Road.
The camp will offer fun activities for children to do during the day, one weekly trip to a swimming pool and a weekly field trip, according to Boys and Girls Club spokeswoman April Chervenka.
During the promotion ceremony, each den, a group comprised of between 6 and 8 boys, was called up individually to receive new handkerchiefs which the boys wear around their necks as part of their uniforms. Proud parents accompanied their children to be recognized by the assembly. Cub Scouts has five levels, Tiger, Wolf, Bear, Webelos 1 and Webelos 2 which are for boys from first to fifth grade.
“I challenge each of you to be an example for the boys below you” charged Cub Master Jeff Segal after the scouts had been promoted. The ceremony also featured a flag ceremony, several scout cheers, a skit and a song, all performed by the various dens.

Woodbridge, Va. –– The defense betrayed Potomac again Tuesday night in Woodbridge, as three more errors led to three unearned runs and proved too much to overcome in a 4-3 loss to the Kinston Indians. Potomac has now made multiple errors in six straight games and has dropped three straight ballgames to fall to 18-26, nine back of the Wilmington Blue Rocks.
The P-Nats jumped on the board first with Steven Souza’s leadoff home run in the second inning, but the lead was short-lived. Kinston tied it in the top of the third thanks to the Nats’ first error of the game. With two outs Tyler Holt and Casey Frawley roped consecutive singles. Bo Greenwell then hit a grounder to short that was misplayed by Jose Lozada that tied the game.
The end times didn’t come over the weekend, but for Comcast customers without a digital set top box they came Tuesday.
