PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, Va. — The human remains found in a wooded area behind a home on Yolanda Lane will be sent to a medical examiner’s office in Manassas for examination.
With little to go on, Prince William police today described the skeletal remains as that of an adult, but it’s unclear what age or sex the body is.
MANASSAS, Va. — Kaine will tour small businesses today in Old Town Manassas as he continues his campaign for U.S. Senate.
The tour starts at 3 p.m. at Fosters Grille at 9417 West Street, and along the tour Kaine will share his ideas for economic improvement, according to a press release.
Trees are already falling in the Triangle area where the High Occupancy Toll lanes are being extended nine miles south from Dumfries to Va. 610 in Stafford County.
From North Stafford to Edsall Road in Alexandria, the new lanes will be a part of what will be 29 miles of the new 95 Express Lanes that will allow drivers to pay a toll to avoid traffic or continue to ride free in vehicles of three or more.
STAFFORD, Va. — A man from Spotsylvania County was taken to a hospital after his truck crashed and closed two lanes of Interstate 95 in Stafford.
The crash happened at mile post 139, just before Courthouse Road, about 4:30 a.m. when a Ford F-350 pick-up ran off the road, struck a guard rail and overturned.
STAFFORD COUNTY, Va. — The Stafford Democratic Committee will hold their “Blue Country Swing” picnic where Democrats will gather on Sat., Aug. 18 from 4 to 8 pm, to hear candidates and get organized for the fall election.
The picnic is at the North Snowden Farm in southeast Stafford County, 1465 King’s Hwy, Fredericksburg VA 22405. The farm is the lifelong home of Stafford native Bobby Crisp, wife of former Democratic supervisor Harry Crisp. The Crisps have lived at the home most of their married life and raised their children there.

WOODBRIDGE, Va. — Approximately 500 new teachers and counselors will join more than 5,000 educators in Prince William County Public Schools this fall.
FROM POLICE REPORTS:
Shooting Investigation – On August 10th at 5:53PM, police responded to the 16800 block of Taconic Cir in Dumfries (22026) for a shooting. The investigation revealed that the victims, a 19 year old man and a 16 year old male juvenile – both of Dumfries, had planned to meet up with a known acquaintance behind the Fortuna Center Plaza. There, the 16 year old victim got into a vehicle occupied by KELLEY and BRYANT. Once inside, KELLEY displayed a handgun and attempted to rob the victim. The 16 year old victim was able to get out of the vehicle, at which point both victims fled towards Stockbridge Dr. On Stockbridge Dr, the victims encountered a second vehicle, occupied byHALE and JACKSON, who were accomplices of KELLEY and BRYANT. During that encounter,JACKSON pointed a shotgun at the victims and fired, striking the 19 year old in the back and the 16 year old in the torso. Both victims were transported to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Several detectives were assigned to this case and were quickly able to develop the identities of those involved. HALE and BRYANT were located leaving BRYANT’s address on Brightleaf Ct and were detained following a traffic stop. JACKSON and KELLEY were both located at their respective residences where search warrants were also executed. Following an investigation, all four suspects were arrested in regard this incident which was not random.

STAFFORD, Va. – The Mobile Vet Center Program’s mobile unit will make a return trip to Stafford County on Wednesday, August 15, 2012. The Mobile Vet Center, based in Richmond, brings services to veterans who might otherwise have to go to Richmond or Washington, D.C.
The unit will be in Stafford from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in the parking lot of the George L. Gordon, Jr., Government Center, 1300 Courthouse Road, Stafford, VA 22554.
