PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, Va. — A program that investigates the legal status of arrested illegal immigrants in Prince William County will remain in place at least through June.

The jurisdiction is the only one in the U.S. to keep the 287 (g) program following efforts to cut the program in October, said Prince William Board of Supervisors Chairman Corey A. Stewart (At-Large).

At the crack of dawn two days before Christmas, 40 volunteers fanned out across Nokesville and beyond to look for birds. While many were focused on last minute holiday shopping, Northern Virginia birders flocked together to count bird species and abundance as part of the annual Nokesville Christmas Bird Count.

MANASSAS, Va. — Officials in Manassas said they are getting phone calls from concerned residents about helicopters flying overhead.

In response, police and operators at the Manassas 911 call center have been instructed to provide information from the National Nuclear Security Administration. According to that agency, the helicopters are measuring naturally occurring radiation in the Washington area.
