FREDERICKSBURG, Va. — The first black man to serve on Stafford County’s Board of Supervisors was on hand to celebrate the second inauguration of this nation’s first black president.

At an election gala held by the Stafford County Branch of the NAACP on Saturday in Fredericksburg, Bob Woodson joined his Democratic Party supporters at a black tie dinner for President Barack Obama.

STAFFORD COUNTY, Va. — A fire ripped through a home in Stafford County’s Hartwood area about 7 a.m. Sunday.

Fire and rescue crews were called to 46 Tom Jenkins Lane where they found a one-story home with a basement ablaze. Fire and rescue crews made sure all of the occupants made it safely out of the house, and then they mounted a defensive attack on the burning structure in an attempt to douse the blaze and protect an adjacent house, stated a press release from Stafford County Fire and Rescue spokesman Mark Doyle.

This search for the past began with the investigation and improvement of a forgotten little cemetery in the woods.

While most folks are generally worried about the weather this time of year, the real storm usually occurs in the McCoart Administration Building. I’m referring to the annual budget process for Prince William County. This is the battle of wills between the fiscal conservatives, the liberal right, and the center-leaning members of the county’s Board of Supervisors over just how little or much of our money they plan to take to run Prince William County during Fiscal Year 2014 starting July 1.
