The driver that police said slammed into the back of four cars causing a chain reaction crash and then fled the scene turned himself in to police.
GAINESVILLE, Va. – It’s happened again – a trailer that was stopped on train tracks at U.S. 29 in Gainesville was swiped by a train.
No one was injured, but the accident has forced the closure of a portion of the busy commuter route just south of Interstate 66 near the Virginia Gateway shopping center. Police said the closed portion of the roadway will remain that way for at least another two to three hours while an investigation takes place.

WOODBRIDGE, Va. — A victim in a crash on Feb. 4 has succumbed to her injuries.
Prince William police said 58-year-old Earnestine R. Larry, of Woodbridge, died Feb. 9 after suffering a head injury in the crash. The victim was riding inside a 2007 Toyota Scion, and the driver of that car was not injured.
WOODBRIDGE, Va. — First, Prince William Corey Stewart said he wanted to cut both President’s Day and Columbus Day from the list of paid holidays for county employees.
Those are two of 12 paid holidays bestowed on county employees, and cutting them would save money and put the county’s employee calendar more on par with that of the federal government.
