Virginia Secretary of Transportation Sean Connaughton is going to the August 6 Prince William County Board of County Supervisors meeting. I’ll give the man credit for guts. (For full disclosure, I would have chosen another word, a part of the male anatomy that comes in pairs. I suspect my Editor would have changed it to “guts.”)
Experiencing the thrill of seeing original historical documents and artifacts—called primary sources—and exploring with experts the millions of digitized documents maintained in the Library of Congress are two reasons that compelled Osbourn Park Social Studies Teacher Jennifer Buffa to successfully seek entry into one of the summer institutes offered by the Library of Congress.

Movie Review: The Way Way — Rated PG-13 — 3 stars out of 5
“The Way Way Back” is a place I am used to, so this movie was an easy choice. It’s a coming-of-age movie written and directed by the team of Nat Faxon and Jim Rash. These boys won a screenwriting Oscar for “The Descendants,” which they penned with Alexander Payne (Sideways). It follows that they would make this their directorial debut, as they are oddballs and that’s what this movie is about.
Good morning – The Greater Prince William Community Health Center is celebrating National Health Center Week on August 13-15 from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. each day. Volunteers are needed every day to assist with free health screenings such as mammograms, checks for cholesterol, anemia, diabetes, heart disease, depression, vision and dental to name just a few.
The event will include free car seats, lunch, and music and fun children’s entertainment. So as you can see, your volunteer effort will make a huge impact on thousands of individuals participating in this super event. Please visit: gpwhealthcenter.org for more info or call (703) 680-6524 to volunteer. There will also be a volunteer orientation on Friday August 9 at 1 p.m. to give you all the specifics to jump right in and help. Teens age 17 and older are very welcome and of course you do not need a health background to be part of this wonderful community event.
